Help for Aspergers - Children

We can offer a complete assessment and diagnostic service for children suspected of having Asperger’s Syndrome.

Assessments for children are carried out in line with the NAPC (National Autism Plan for Children) and NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines which recommend that children are assessed by a multi-disciplinary team, including a combination of the following professionals:

The exact make-up of the team assigned to individual children will depend upon their particular strengths, difficulties and needs. All of the professionals working for us have many years of experience in assessment, diagnosis and intervention with children with developmental difficulties. The assessment will include a full report and a diagnostic summary (where appropriate) and includes liaison with a child’s school or educational placement.

Following assessment, we can continue to provide on-going support if required or can provide hand-over to the family’s local CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)

Help for Aspergers - Adults

It is estimated that at least 1% of the adult population is affected by Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. Historically it has been very difficult for adults to access appropriate services or obtain a formal diagnosis of their difficulties.

In line with the recommendations in the Autism Bill, which was passed by Parliament in April 2010, we have developed an assessment and diagnosis service for adults.

We provide a full assessment of strengths and  difficulties (including daily living activities), and provide a diagnosis (where appropriate), together with follow-up support programme for individuals and their families.

Additionally, we have extensive experience of working within secure forensic settings, and can also provide this type of assessment for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act, or those involved with the Criminal Justice System.

In those cases where ‘fitness to plead’ or ‘mens rea’ (guilty mind) is in question, we can also act as an Expert Witness.

Finally, we have extensive experience of providing parenting assessments for care proceedings, where it is suspected that parents may have a developmental difficulty, such as Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
